Bang Bang, Chinatown

November 15, 2018

Location: Darling Square, Chinatown // Cuisine: Japanese Izakaya

Sizzle your appetite at the hip Izakaya join located in the newish hub in Darling Harbour; Steam Mill Lane. Starting with the Bang Bang tebasaki, the absolute highlight of my experience, with the perfect balance of sweetness and kick of spice. I couldn’t get enough of them seriously.

Continue to season your taste buds with raw sashimi delights including the platter and kingfish carpaccio, which are your standard choices but with an interesting tangy flavour twist.

Marinate with the main dishes including the wagyu, which was a little ordinary but the savoury sauce really helped to bring out the juicy texture of the meat. Similarly, the teriyaki prawns were overloaded with a sweet and savoury sauce that had me dragging the prawns across the plate.

Twirl into the kaisen omu yakisoba, a delightfully satisfying dish, which was packed with flavour but a little dry at times.

To conclude, the overall experience was scrumptious – be sure to compliment your food with their classic Japanese drinks or an extravagant cocktail if you’re feeling a little cheeky.
